Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, after which Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted eight key features of the USBRL project. These include India’s longest tunnel T-50 (12.77 km), second-longest T-80 (11.22 km), and third-longest T-44 (11.13 km). The project includes 36 main tunnels (119.6 km), 8 escape tunnels (66.4 km), and the world’s highest railway arch — the Chenab Bridge (359 m high). Also featured are the Anji Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, and snow-cutting equipment in Vande Bharat for all-weather movement, with construction adapted to Himalayan geological conditions.
