On June 5, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the ‘Lovlina Boxing Academy’ at Borchandra in North Guwahati, named after Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain. The world-class facility aims to train young boxers with modern infrastructure. The state government has granted ₹2 crore to enhance the academy, including building a residential hostel. Training fees have been kept at a minimal ₹500 to ensure accessibility. CM Sarma praised Lovlina as a symbol of pride and resilience. An emotional Lovlina thanked the CM and expressed hope that the academy will nurture future champions for Assam and India.
