The executive order, affecting 19 countries including Iran, Afghanistan, and several African nations, is set to take effect Monday and mirrors Trump’s earlier policies. Alireza Hashemi-Raja of Iran’s Foreign Ministry criticized the move as violating international norms and driven by a supremacist mindset among U.S. policymakers. He warned it denies basic rights based on nationality or religion. Despite tensions, the U.S. hosts the largest Iranian diaspora, with around 1.5 million Iranians living there as of 2020.
