CM Defends Palasbari Township Plan Amid Tribal Land Dispute, Criticizes Opposition

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that no government-led eviction has occurred in the Barduar Tea Estate amid protests over the proposed Palasbari satellite township. He stated the government is only preparing a master plan and not buying land or constructing buildings. Sarma accused Congress of politicizing the protests and urged consistency in supporting tribal rights across all regions. He emphasized that only illegal settlers would be targeted, not genuine tribal residents, and lamented Congress pushing forest communities toward court battles instead of dialogue. Opposition leaders criticized the government over land ownership issues, while Sarma called for peaceful discussions.
