According to a new UNHCR report, at least 123.2 million people worldwide—1 in every 67 individuals—are forcibly displaced. This marks a 6% increase from 2023, continuing a 13-year upward trend. Of the total, 73.5 million are internally displaced due to conflict or crises, while Gaza alone accounts for over 2 million displaced. Refugee numbers fell slightly to 42.7 million, including 31 million under UNHCR and 5.9 million Palestinian refugees. Afghan, Syrian, and Ukrainian refugee estimates declined, while Sudanese refugees rose to 2.1 million. Asylum seekers awaiting decisions reached 8.4 million, a 22% rise from the previous year.
