West Bengal Violence: Police Injured, Vehicles Torched Amid Heightened Security – What Sparked the Unrest?

Violent clashes erupted in Maheshtala, West Bengal, between locals and police over a land dispute involving a ‘tulsi mancha’ built at a site claimed to be temple land, previously occupied by a minority trader. Five police personnel, including DC (Port) Harikrishna Pai, were injured, vehicles were torched, and tear gas was used to disperse the mob. Twelve arrests were made.
