Tata Group, owner of Air India, announced ₹1 crore compensation for each family of the victims of the recent Air India plane crash. They will also cover medical expenses for the injured and support the reconstruction of the BJ Medical College hostel. Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, offering condolences and solidarity to grieving families. This marks Air India's first major crash since its acquisition by the Tatas from the government in 2022. The airline, which began operating Boeing 787-8 aircraft in 2014, now has a fleet of over 190 planes, including 58 Boeing jets.
