Sepoy Sunilal Muchahary of the Madras Regiment, hailing from Pub Makra village in Assam’s Chirang district, was laid to rest with full military honours after losing his life in a landslide at Chatten, North Sikkim. His body was recovered after a nine-day search by the Army. Known for his humility, discipline, and dedication, Sunilal served the Army for nearly 13 years in challenging regions. A quiet but dependable soldier and skilled sportsman, he never sought attention. Villagers, officials, and military personnel gathered to bid him farewell, honouring his sacrifice and lifelong dream to serve the nation.
