The Cabinet Secretariat has notified that the Union Home Ministry will now coordinate efforts for the career advancement of ex-Agniveers after their 4-year service ends. This follows an amendment to the Allocation of Business Rules, 1961. Launched in June 2022, the Agnipath scheme recruits youth aged 17.5–21 for a 4-year term in the Army, Navy, and Air Force, with 25% retained for longer service. The government has reserved 10% of constable jobs in Central Armed Police Forces for ex-Agniveers, who won’t need new physical tests. Several central agencies also plan to offer jobs to these former personnel.
