On June 17, the Nagaland Directorate of Higher Education held a press conference to announce the phase-wise disbursement of post-matric scholarships for ST students for 2024–25. The scheme, funded 90:10 by the Centre and State, requires ₹5,638.06 lakhs for 41,793 students, but only ₹3,070 lakhs are currently available. In the first phase, full scholarships will be disbursed to 22,000 verified students. The rest will be covered later, pending additional funds. For the first time, disbursement will be via the National Scholarship Portal using Aadhaar-based DBT, ensuring a one-time, transparent digital payment system for each beneficiary.
