As of June 17, strict restrictions have been imposed along Assam's Cachar district border with Bangladesh to prevent extremist movement and illegal transport of goods and cattle. Issued by District Commissioner Mridul Yadav under Section 163 of BNSS, the order bans movement between sunset and sunrise within a 1-km belt along the border and on the Surma River. Transport of key commodities in a 5-km belt is also restricted. Fishing and boat movement require prior approval. The order exempts government officials on duty and remains valid for two months unless amended earlier. All permissions must be shared with the BSF and magistrate.
