East-Coast Freight Corridor Gets Top Priority for Approval: DFCCIL MD

As the final stretch of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor nears completion, DFCCIL is prioritizing approval for the East-Coast corridor from Kharagpur to Vijayawada among three new proposed freight corridors. DFCCIL MD Praveen Kumar noted that ₹4.5 lakh crore investment is needed for the projects. The WDFC and Eastern corridor have boosted freight speed and efficiency, benefiting both freight and passenger services. DFCCIL plans to commission six new Gati Shakti terminals this year and expand its Truck on Train scheme. Experts at the Global Heavy Haul Seminar shared innovations to enhance DFCCIL’s operational efficiency and multimodal connectivity.
