Assam Launches Statewide Crackdown on Tax Evasion, Uncovers ₹5.8 Crore Fraud

The Assam State GST Department uncovered tax evasion worth approximately ₹5.8 crore during coordinated raids in Barpeta Road, Jorhat, and Tinsukia. At Barpeta Road, ₹3 crore turnover suppression and ₹15 lakh tax evasion were detected at Apsara Beej Bhander. In Tinsukia, Jain Marketeers was found making bogus ITC claims and no SGST payments, with ₹80 lakh suppressed turnover. In Jorhat, Dolly Glass and Décor admitted to ₹2 crore suppression. The raids targeted fraudulent practices like sale suppression and false ITC claims. Authorities warned of legal action, emphasizing that tax malpractice will not be tolerated, with further investigations underway.
