Barduar Bagan Residents Oppose Proposed Township, Assert 'Our Land, Our Right'

In a massive protest at Jarapata field under Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, Barduar Bagan residents and indigenous groups opposed the proposed Barduar Bagan Satellite Township project, fearing mass displacement and ecological harm. Organised by the Barduar Bagan Land Pattani Demand Committee, the event saw participation from intellectuals, activists, and diverse communities. Protesters demanded cancellation of the project, legal land pattas, and protection of Chandubi Lake’s ecosystem. Alleging forced land acquisition for corporates, they condemned recent eviction drives and accused local leaders of betrayal. A joint resolution was passed to intensify the movement and safeguard indigenous land, culture, and democratic rights.
