Toyota Expands Green Hydrogen Focus with Ohmium Partnership Beyond Mobility

Toyota Kirloskar Motor and US-based Ohmium International have partnered to develop a green hydrogen-based microgrid system for off-grid power applications beyond mobility, such as domestic generators and industrial use. Toyota brings fuel cell expertise, while Ohmium provides electrolyser technology. The collaboration aims to explore decentralized water-to-hydrogen-to-electricity solutions. With Toyota's long-standing investment in hydrogen and Ohmium’s Bengaluru-based electrolyser plant, the project supports India’s clean energy transition. Toyota sees hydrogen as a scalable, clean energy carrier suitable for hard-to-decarbonize sectors like steel and cement. The initiative includes a joint prototype to test integrated systems and expand hydrogen’s role beyond transportation.
