Intel, under new CEO Lip-Bu Tan, is laying off 107 employees at its Santa Clara HQ starting July 15 and shutting down its automotive chip division in Munich. Most employees in that unit will lose their jobs. These cuts are part of a broader plan to reduce Intel’s global workforce by up to 20% to streamline operations. Key engineering and leadership roles are being eliminated, and some marketing functions will be outsourced to Accenture using AI tools. The layoffs follow 15,000 job cuts in 2024. Intel’s downsizing mirrors a larger trend in the tech industry, which has seen over 62,000 layoffs in 2025.
