Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking at the BRICS summit in Brazil, warned that failure to hold Israel accountable for its June 13 attack on Iran would destabilize the region. He condemned US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities as violations of international law, specifically the NPT and UNSC Resolution 2231. Iran gained support from BRICS+ nations, who jointly denounced the strikes and expressed concern over attacks on civilian and nuclear sites. The conflict resulted in over 900 Iranian deaths and 5,300 injuries, with Iran retaliating and killing 29 in Israel. A US-brokered ceasefire began on June 24 and remains in place.
