A month after announcing the 16th Census of India, the Centre has floated a tender inviting reputed offset printers from Delhi-NCR for printing, binding, and packaging Census materials for two years. Scheduled for March 1, 2027 (October 1, 2026 in remote areas), this will be India’s first digital Census and include caste data. The tender covers printing in Hindi, English, and regional languages. The Census will occur in two phases starting April 2026. Enumerators will use mobile apps for data collection. All printed and digital materials will remain property of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India (ORGI).
