Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, at a high-level meeting in New Delhi, urged the 16th Finance Commission to allocate 20% of grants for forestry and ecology, citing their vital role in the state’s economy. He sought special funding for infrastructure, especially in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), and highlighted road-rail disruptions during monsoons. Roy also requested grants for agriculture, fisheries, MSMEs, and tourism, flagged rising drug trafficking along borders, and emphasized cross-border trade with Bangladesh. He called for support to address revenue shortfalls and boost fisheries infrastructure. The meeting included representatives from all Northeastern states.
