West Bengal CM Criticizes BJP Over Assam NRC Tribunal Notice Labeling Bengal Resident as ‘Illegal Migrant’

Banerjee called the move an attack on democracy and accused Assam’s BJP-led government of jurisdictional overreach. Brajabasi stated he never lived in Assam, and his lawyer questioned how the SP’s office issued the notice. North Bengal Minister Udayan Guha condemned the harassment, while BJP leaders denied wrongdoing. Banerjee also warned of NRC-like actions in Bihar and alleged a coordinated effort to target marginalized communities across states.
