Meghalaya Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal has requested ₹2,270 crore from the Centre for critical transmission projects in the state. Approved by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the project will add 760 MVA capacity and 190 Ckt km of transmission lines. Mondal emphasized urgent needs, including a 132 kV line to Baghmara and other border towns, and upgrades in South Garo Hills, West Garo Hills, and Ri Bhoi. He highlighted financial constraints, pending PSDF approvals, and rising cyber threats. Mondal urged a common accounting system and welcomed the CEA's assurance to forward the request to the Ministry of Power for support.
