Six Secret Service Agents Suspended Over Lapses in Trump Assassination Attempt

Six U.S. Secret Service agents have been suspended for 10 to 42 days over lapses during the failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally on July 13, 2024. The agency called the incident an “operational failure,” noting the attacker accessed a rooftop with a clear view of Trump. The gunman was killed, a bystander died, and Trump was injured. The Secret Service has since implemented 21 of 46 recommended reforms. A separate attempt was also foiled in Florida. Trump criticized the security lapses, and the agency pledged improvements to prevent future failures.
