Impersonation Scam Busted at SBI Gangtok Branch; Three Held in Fraud Case

A financial fraud case involving impersonation and cyber deception was reported at Sadar Police Station, Gangtok, on July 9, 2025. SBI Branch Manager Pankaj Kumar filed the FIR after a fraudster impersonated a known client, Rajsons Enterprise, using voice modulation and fake WhatsApp details. The caller tricked the bank into processing an RTGS transaction of ₹10.55 lakh. The fraud was exposed when Rajsons staff alerted the bank about suspicious calls. Three suspects were detained under BNSS, 2023, and a vehicle was challaned. The case highlights a sophisticated cyber scam exploiting trust and familiarity with legitimate customer details.
