Taiwan Deploys Advanced U.S. Rockets in Key Phase of Annual Military Drills

Taiwan has begun deploying advanced U.S.-made HIMARS rocket systems during its annual Han Kuang live-fire military drills to enhance defense readiness against potential Chinese attacks. The 10-day exercise, Taiwan's most comprehensive, includes unscripted combat scenarios simulating enemy invasions. The drills featured HIMARS deployment near Taichung, with emphasis on concealment from enemy detection. China, which views Taiwan as its territory, criticized the drills as deceptive and opposes U.S.-Taiwan military ties. Taiwan received its first HIMARS units in 2023, capable of striking targets in China’s Fujian province. The drills demonstrate Taiwan’s commitment to self-defense amid growing Chinese military pressure.
