Mizoram Excels in NITI Aayog’s SDG Index 2023-24; All Districts Ranked as ‘Front Runners’

Mizoram has emerged as a top performer in NITI Aayog’s North Eastern Region SDG Index 2023-24, with all 11 districts earning ‘Front Runner’ status. Hnahthial district topped the Northeast with a score of 81.4, followed by Champhai at 79.8. The index recognizes districts scoring between 65 and 99 as Front Runners, reflecting Mizoram’s progress in health, education, gender equality, clean water, and sustainability. Only Mizoram, Sikkim, and Tripura had all districts in this category. Despite some regional declines in clean energy and inequality reduction, Mizoram leads in sustainable development. Nationally, Uttarakhand ranked first in the overall SDG index.
