Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that 80 new model schools will be opened in tea garden areas, expanding on the government's plan to set up 200 schools across 800 tea estates. The initiative includes mid-day meals for students of classes 9 and 10, smart classrooms, and improved infrastructure. Sarma stressed enrolling students from all communities to promote integration. He reviewed existing model schools and Adarsha Vidyalayas, promising better teacher conditions and compulsory B.Ed apprentice training. To boost attendance, bicycles will be provided from class 6, along with a proposed School Breakfast Programme and regular health checkups for students.
