Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, addressed the Global Fintech Fest 2025 in Mumbai and highlighted India’s strong economic resilience despite global uncertainties. He stated that over the last six months of the current financial year, India achieved a 4–5% growth in exports, reflecting both goods and services. He emphasized that this growth is significant given that global trade growth has fallen below 1% according to World Bank figures. Goyal described this as a testament to India’s resilience and robust economic framework, asserting that the country remains on a positive trajectory even amidst global turbulence.

Goyal underscored the pivotal role of technology in driving inclusive growth. He pointed out that India’s citizens are increasingly empowered with digital tools, with over a billion internet users contributing to the country’s progress. He emphasized trust as India’s defining strength, calling it “the only currency that never depreciates, it only appreciates.” According to him, India is at a critical inflection point with strong macroeconomic fundamentals, expanding trade relationships with developed countries, and a focus on providing high-quality, affordable services to customers. These factors, he noted, position India as a global economic powerhouse capable of navigating uncertainties while delivering inclusive growth.

The minister also highlighted India’s leadership in renewable energy. He noted that 24-hour renewable energy is available at under 9 cents per kilowatt for data centers and artificial intelligence applications. This availability of clean, affordable energy is expected to power some of the world’s most advanced technologies from India, reinforcing the country’s commitment to sustainability while enabling technological innovation. Goyal stressed that India’s renewable energy infrastructure can serve as a model for other nations, reflecting both environmental responsibility and economic efficiency.

Digital innovation and financial inclusion remain central to India’s growth strategy. Goyal highlighted the success of India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI), noting its growing global reach. He mentioned the recent launch of UPI in Doha, Qatar, and stated that it is now being used in nine countries. He emphasized that UPI’s adoption is a clear indication of India’s leadership in digital finance, enabling secure, efficient, and inclusive financial transactions for citizens and businesses alike. The platform has not only transformed payments within India but is increasingly being recognized as a global standard for seamless digital transactions.

Goyal’s remarks also emphasized the interconnection between technology, economic growth, and global influence. By leveraging digital tools, renewable energy, and financial innovation, India is positioning itself as a global hub for sustainable development, economic resilience, and technological leadership. His address reflected confidence in India’s ability to sustain growth in exports, enhance trade relationships, and empower its citizens through inclusive economic policies.

In conclusion, Piyush Goyal highlighted that India’s export growth of 4–5% over the last six months, combined with advancements in technology, renewable energy, and digital finance, demonstrates the country’s resilience and strategic approach to global economic integration. India’s trust-based economy, inclusive technological growth, and focus on sustainability and digital empowerment collectively ensure that the nation remains poised to capitalize on global opportunities while addressing domestic needs effectively. The minister’s address at the Global Fintech Fest 2025 thus showcased India’s commitment to innovation, growth, and global leadership in multiple sectors, underlining a forward-looking, inclusive, and resilient economic vision.
