Several hotels in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, received bomb threats via email on Saturday, leading to heightened security measures across the city. In response, the police swiftly deployed bomb disposal squads and dog units to conduct thorough inspections at the affected locations.

An officer from the Cantonment police station confirmed that inspections were underway at all the hotels that had received the threatening emails. "So far, nothing suspicious has been found. The inspections are continuing," the officer stated, adding that police teams were working to trace the origin of the emails. According to the officer, the emails claimed that improvised explosive device (IED) blasts would occur at various hotels, including the Hilton Hotel, situated in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram.

This incident follows a worrying pattern observed in recent months, where multiple bomb threats have been sent via email to public offices across Kerala. District collectorates, Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) offices, and even the Kerala High Court had previously received similar threats. However, extensive inspections in all those cases concluded that the threats were hoaxes.

Despite the past incidents turning out to be false alarms, the police are treating each new threat seriously to ensure public safety. Security has been tightened in and around major establishments in Thiruvananthapuram, and authorities continue to investigate the source of the latest threats. While no explosives have been found so far, the situation remains under close watch as the inspections proceed.
