Assam BJP Unveils 15-Point Manifesto for Panchayat Elections, Pledges Rural Transformation

As Assam gears up for the upcoming Panchayat elections, the state’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its 15-point manifesto, the Sankalp Patra, promising comprehensive rural development. The manifesto, spearheaded by Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, along with contributions from Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, and other key leaders, aims to reshape Assam’s rural governance and economy.

The BJP's vision, deeply rooted in the principles of national leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Acharya Vinoba Bhave, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, promises to fulfill the ideals of Gram Swaraj and Antyodaya in Assam's villages. The party emphasizes decentralization and empowerment, criticizing the Congress for failing to establish rural self-governance during its 55-year rule, accusing it of fostering centralized corruption.

The manifesto also highlights the achievements of the NDA government since 2014, especially in integrating Assam into regional and national initiatives such as the Look East and Act East policies. The peace accords with insurgent groups are cited as key factors in bringing stability and development to the state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

The BJP government in Assam, formed in 2016 under Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, is credited with initiating transformative schemes like the Orunodoi Scheme, Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, and Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan to empower women and youth entrepreneurs. Other key social welfare programs, including Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, are highlighted as pivotal in driving grassroots prosperity.

With this manifesto, the Assam BJP aims to continue its commitment to rural development, positioning Assam's villages as models of sustainable progress.
