Ronesh Daimari, a notorious criminal with a vast record of over 100 criminal cases across Assam, sustained bullet injuries after police opened fire during an attempted arrest late Tuesday night in Guwahati’s Jalukbari area. The operation was carried out by a team from Dispur Police following a gold chain snatching incident in Sundarpur earlier the same evening, in which Daimari was the primary suspect.

According to officials, Daimari resisted arrest and tried to flee the scene, prompting the police to open fire. He was shot and immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. A pistol, believed to be in his possession during the attempted chain snatching, was recovered from the location of the encounter, confirming police suspicions of his armed status during the incident.

Law enforcement officials have labeled Daimari a hardened and habitual offender. His criminal dossier includes more than 100 cases that span a wide range of crimes such as theft, robbery, vehicle theft, and abduction. The majority of these cases are spread across multiple police jurisdictions in Assam, making him one of the state’s most dangerous repeat offenders.

Prior to this incident, Daimari had been arrested in December 2024 in connection with 24 criminal cases but was released on bail just 10 days before allegedly committing the chain-snatching crime. Authorities believe he resumed his criminal activities almost immediately after his release.

This is not Daimari's first encounter with police gunfire. He was previously injured near 13 Mile, Jorabat, while trying to escape from police custody. These recurring encounters with law enforcement highlight the severity of his criminal behavior and the persistent risk he poses to public safety.

Further investigations have revealed that Daimari's operations are deeply linked to organized crime networks functioning throughout Assam. He had close criminal ties with another infamous criminal, Boga, who was one of Assam’s most-wanted car thieves. Boga was recently killed in a police encounter, but prior to that, the two reportedly collaborated on multiple high-profile criminal activities.

Authorities confirmed that the duo not only worked together in the criminal underworld but also shared a familial bond, strengthening their partnership in crime. Their relationship is believed to have played a role in planning and executing several serious crimes, including organized theft rings and violent offenses.

The police have emphasized their commitment to curbing such criminal elements and maintaining law and order. Daimari's apprehension, despite his injuries, is being seen as a significant development in Assam’s ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates that have plagued the state for years. As investigations continue, further revelations about Daimari’s network and past crimes are expected to emerge.
