The Election Commission of India is set to launch a comprehensive single digital platform—an app and website named ECINET—which will integrate 40 currently operational apps catering to both voters and electoral officials. According to a statement made by the poll body on Sunday, the unified app aims to streamline and enhance the electoral experience for all stakeholders involved in the election process.

The ECINET platform is reportedly in the advanced stages of development and testing. Its launch is expected to take place ahead of the upcoming Bihar elections later this year. The move is seen as a major step in consolidating the Election Commission’s digital services, allowing both citizens and election machinery personnel to access a wide range of features and tools from a single interface.

ECINET will subsume existing voter-facing apps such as the Voter Turnout app, the Know Your Candidate (KYC) app, and the Election Results app. These applications currently offer information related to real-time polling data, details about candidates contesting elections, and the publication of election outcomes. Apart from these public services, the app will also serve as a comprehensive digital tool for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and other stakeholders involved in election logistics and administration.

The Election Commission clarified that the development of ECINET was envisioned during the Conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) held in March 2025. The idea for such an integrated platform was proposed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, in collaboration with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi. During the conference, the top officials discussed ways to bring digital transformation to the election process and improve service delivery and coordination across states and territories.

By consolidating multiple apps into a single platform, ECINET is expected to improve usability, reduce redundancy, and enhance operational efficiency for the Election Commission and its associated field staff. The app will likely feature improved navigation, centralized access to election-related data, streamlined workflows for election personnel, and better communication tools for electoral updates and instructions.

In summary, ECINET represents a major technological leap in the Election Commission’s digital ecosystem. It is expected to provide a unified, user-friendly interface that caters to the diverse needs of voters, election officials, and administrative personnel. With its anticipated rollout before the Bihar elections, ECINET could serve as a model for digital electoral governance in future elections across India. The Election Commission is positioning this move as a reflection of its commitment to modernization, transparency, and improved access to information and services for all stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
