With the spiritually significant Ambubachi Mahayog 2025 at Kamakhya Temple approaching, the Guwahati Police has issued a detailed advisory to ensure a safe, organized, and spiritually reverent observance of the four-day annual event. Scheduled from June 22 to June 25, the event is expected to draw lakhs of pilgrims from across India and abroad to the sacred Kamakhya Temple, perched atop the Nilachal Hills in Guwahati.

To manage the expected crowd and mitigate any safety concerns, Guwahati Police released 10 key guidelines for devotees, volunteers, and local residents:

1. Restricted Entry Timings:

Devotees will only be allowed to access the Nilachal Hills from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM during the festival days. This measure has been taken in response to the heavy footfall and the risk of landslides in the hilly terrain. No exceptions will be made outside this window.

2. Transport Limitations:

Only ferry vehicles designated for essential services and duty officials will be permitted to travel to and from the temple. Regular vehicles, including private cars, will not be allowed near the temple area to reduce congestion.

3. Health & Safety Advisory:

Due to overcrowding and unpredictable weather, senior citizens and infants are advised not to visit during the peak days of the festival. This measure is aimed at preventing health emergencies and ensuring safety.

4. Closure of Pandu–Kamakhya Road:

The Pandu–Kamakhya road will remain completely closed to the general public and VIPs during the Mahayog. Only emergency vehicles will be granted access through this route.

5. No VIP or Special Darshan:

From June 22 to June 27, there will be no arrangements for VIP or special darshan. All devotees will be treated equally to preserve the spiritual spirit of the event and avoid crowding.

6. Ban on Loudspeakers, Music & Processions:

To maintain the spiritual sanctity of the Ambubachi Mahayog, loudspeakers, musical instruments, and processions have been strictly banned within and around the temple premises.

7. Reopening Day Darshan (June 26):

After the completion of the Mahayog rituals, darshan will resume on June 26. Devotees will be required to assemble at Bongshi Bagaan Ground, from where they will be guided in a queue system managed by temple volunteers for orderly darshan.

8. Ban on Footwear:

All devotees must remove their shoes and sandals beyond the Kamakhya foothills. Visitors are advised to plan ahead for this rule, especially considering the terrain.

9. Traffic Management:

A separate traffic plan detailing diversions, entry-exit points, and parking facilities will be released soon by the Guwahati Traffic Police to avoid congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement.

10. Emergency Helpline:

For emergencies or assistance, the public can contact the helpline number 112.

The police have appealed for full public cooperation to maintain peace, order, and spiritual devotion during Ambubachi Mahayog. Recognized as one of the holiest Shakti Peethas, Kamakhya Temple becomes a focal point for spiritual seekers during this time, and authorities are determined to ensure a sacred, safe, and meaningful experience for all attendees.
