The RailOne app, officially launched by Indian Railways, is a comprehensive all-in-one mobile platform designed to streamline and enhance the experience of train travel across India. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the app was unveiled by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during CRIS’s 40th Foundation Day event in New Delhi. RailOne consolidates multiple railway-related services—previously spread across separate apps—into a single, user-friendly interface.
RailOne aims to eliminate the confusion of using multiple apps like IRCTC Rail Connect, UTSonMobile, NTES, Rail Madad, and Food on Track. It integrates ticket booking (both reserved and unreserved), live train tracking, grievance redressal, and on-seat food delivery, making it a one-stop solution for railway passengers.
Interestingly, RailOne isn’t entirely new. It is a rebranded and enhanced version of the Swarail app, which was previously under pilot testing. Now fully launched for both Android and iOS platforms, it comes with updated features and full-scale support.
While IRCTC remains the primary authority for handling reserved bookings, it has authorised RailOne to facilitate both reserved and unreserved ticket bookings. This means users of IRCTC and UTS can log in using their existing credentials, thereby avoiding the hassle of re-registration.
RailOne features live train tracking, offering passengers real-time updates on train locations, platform numbers, and expected delays. This feature enhances transparency and helps passengers plan their journeys better.
The app includes an integrated e-wallet called R-Wallet, the Indian Railways’ in-house payment system. Users can enjoy 3% discounts on unreserved tickets booked through the wallet. All payments are secured via biometric authentication or mPIN.
Beyond ticketing and tracking, RailOne provides several useful travel services, including PNR status, booking history, coach locator, food delivery to seats, porter booking, last-mile taxi options, and refund management for cancellations or no-shows.
RailOne has a simplified user interface and supports multiple Indian languages, making it accessible and inclusive for users from different regions and linguistic backgrounds.
RailOne is also a step toward integrating with the new Passenger Reservation System (PRS) expected by December 2025. This upcoming system will enhance booking capabilities, handle higher traffic volumes, and offer expanded features for passengers.
The app is available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Users can simply download RailOne, log in using existing IRCTC credentials or create a new profile. Once logged in, they can access all available services from the app’s homepage.
In conclusion, RailOne represents a major digital leap by Indian Railways, consolidating various essential services into one cohesive platform. It simplifies train travel and enhances the overall user experience, making railway services more efficient, secure, and accessible for millions of Indian passengers.
